Transport & Packaging

Specimens must be transported safely and in accordance with applicable transport requirements.

Specimens must be packaged using:

* Leak-proof primary containers

* Leak-proof secondary packaging

* Appropriate absorbent material

* Rigid outer packaging

Packaging should comply with UN3373 Biological Substance Category B requirements where applicable.

PathTech Laboratories Ltd issues specimen tracking checklists to support traceability and patient safety.

Tracking documentation should accompany specimens and may also be emailed to the laboratory.

Fresh or unfixed specimens should be delivered directly to laboratory staff to avoid tissue degradation.
